Siobán O’Brien Green from Comhlámh was at an exhibition launch down in Irish Aid.

Yesterday evening the Minister for Trade and Development Joe Costello opened a photo exhibition compiled by member of the All-Party Interest Group on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Development with support from the Irish Family Planning Agency.

The Interest Group is made up of members of the Dail, Seanad and Irish MEPs who aim to raise issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights at the Irish parliamentary level and encourage initiatives to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights globally. The Group was established in 2000 to further the ICPD Cairo 1994 conference aims in Irish development policy and Group members are from all political parties and none

The photos in the exhibition are each captioned by a member of the Group and relate to images depicting the importance of education for girls, safer childbirth, combating early marriage and meeting unmet needs for family planning globally. Some of the photos also relate to the needs of women and girls in areas experiencing conflict such as Syria and needs in areas hit by natural disasters like parts of the Philippines following on from the typhoon.

The photo exhibition continues until the end of March 2014 in the Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre on O’Connell Street in Dublin. Pop in and have a look!
