The Dympna Meaney Women’s Leadership Development Fund has made its first award of 2016 to Judith Ondara
Judith is working with a Kenyan NGO, ‘Fruits of Hope and Development Initiative’ in Kissi. She works as a Programmes Officer and is in charge of Gender and Human Rights affairs. She coordinates training activities while also counselling women who are victims of gender violence and participates through advocacy to prevent the practice of Female Genital Mutilation which is prevalent locally. Her bursary is funding her to attend a training on Gender Based Violence being held in Arusha, Tanzania. The training is for advocates on prevention of gender based violence against women and girls who are victims of displacements resulting from conflicts.
The Dympna Meaney Women’s Leadership Development Fund was set up to connect women leaders from the global south with skills building opportunities to strengthen their contribution to global human rights.
