Quashing false stories such as those about ‘free cars or phones’ it offers accurate information about the status and entitlements of different migrant groups. Originally produced at the time of the2004 Local Elections this leaflet has since been updated and continues to be in constant demand.
Challenging Racism
This final leaflet, currently under development, is designed to build on the awareness, understanding and information provided by the first two leaflets by supporting active engagement in ‘Challenging Racism’. Many members and members of the public report a feeling of anxiety and frustration when they encounter Racism, along with a sense that its ‘probably not worth saying anything’. This leaflet will highlight how we can all contribute to the creation of a social climate in which Racism is unacceptable as opposed to one in which it is quietly tolerated. Focusing on a number of commonplace scenarios in which we might encounter Racism, be it on the bus, in the street at our workplace, the leaflet will offer practical support and advice – from feeling able to vocalise disagreement with racist or xenophobic comments in a calm but effective manner to knowing how to make a formal complaint.
