Claiming our Future Ideas - Reducing Income Inequality
This second National Discussion will provide participants with an opportunity to share their ideas on reducing income inequality, on how we can bridge the gap between the rich and poor. At the first Claiming Our Future event (RDS, Dublin, October 2010) this was one of the eight policy priorities identified. It promises to be a creative and visual event with guest performances.

The importance of good global resource management in community development
Speaker: Judith Turbyne, Director, Progressio Ireland.
This presentation will look at how global resources and community
development are intricately linked. It will look at the specific case of
water in ICA Peru, where the push for accelerated economic development
using the asparagus crop has led to an unsustainable use of the water
resource, despite some of those involved in lending for the development
of the crop theoretically having "sustainable" safeguards in place.

Positive Images training for trainers course
Organised by the Irish Red Cross Youth Department this training is an exciting European project aimed at raising awareness and promoting positive attitudes towards refugees and migrants amongst young people. The training will include: Introduction to Positive Images; Working with the Positive Images Toolkit; Ideas for Activities and Games; and Developing and Planning Action Projects. Participation open to anyone working with youth and interested in delivering the project and in raising awareness within their youth groups and amongst their peers. 'Promises' training course
Palestine Education offers this short interactive six week course entitled 'Promises' which aims to provide an introduction to human rights, media and campaigning. It encourages empathy with the victims of human rights violations, and equips them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become local and global advocates for human rights. The course fee is €100 or €75 for students and unwaged.

Introduction to Sustainable Development
This course is a FETAC Accredited Module - L5. It develops an understanding of concepts such as sustainability, quality of life, sustainable communities and carrying capacity. It builds awareness of the links between the environment, society and the economy, education for sustainable development and develops skills of analysis (auditing). Learners facilitate a workshop on an environmental issue of their choice incorporating education for sustainable development methodologies, carry out a project on the life cycle analysis of a product and complete a group project on developing a sustainable community. ECO-UNESCO also runs this course for groups on request.
Dates: 10-Week Course: Thursday 6:30pm - 9pm. 28 April - 14 July. Intensive Course: Friday 2 – 7:30pm and Saturdays 10am – 7pm. 8-9 April; 6-7 May; 29-30 July; 26-27 August.
