Do you remember how to send a fax? Take Action on EPAs today!

Join more than 80 organisation in 30 countries in Europe, Africa and the Pacific in their call for trade justice.

This week marks the 7th year since the EU started negotiating free trade deals known as EPAs (Economic Partnership Agreements) with 76 African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, some of the world’s poorest countries. These deals could have devastating impacts on these countries’ economies, which are already struggling to withstand the impact of a financial crisis they did not create. They could lead to loss of jobs, loss of government revenue, and loss of important policy space for governments to run their economies as they wish. In spite of major pressure from the EU many countries are still refusing to sign these deals.

This Friday (September 25th) organisations across the world are marking ‘Stop EPA Day’ by sending a fax to their national negotiators reminding them that EPAs are supposed to promote development, not lead to increased economic hardship for impoverished countries.

Your actions over the years have encouraged Ireland to take a progressive position on EPAs. Today you can be part of a global trade justice movement by following this link and taking 10 minutes to send this fax to the Irish Ministers involved. We need to make sure our representatives know we care, so let’s remind them to continue to support developing countries’ insistence that their concerns be heard.
