Shannette Budhai, Volunteering Quality Project Officer at Comhlámh and member of the Committee of Management at Near Media Co-op is currently exploring the possibility of getting a group of interested participants together who would like to access training in community radio with the aim of producting a series of programmes on international development.
Interested participants may include recently returned development workers and volunteers, activists, members of the diaspora, university students, or anyone passionate about an aspect of international development. Ideally, we would like to recruit and train a team of dedicated volunteers who would collaborate with each other on: exploring stories to cover, conducting interviews, recording and editing materials, producing a show and promoting their work. The individuals may which to explore a specific theme or to create a show that covers many different aspects of development.
Near Media Co-op is a not-for-profit community media organisation. It aims to give the public a platform to talk about issues that are important to communities (both locally and globally), and also aims to create a space where social justice issues can be explored. All of the content created and produced by Near FM is done by volunteers who are interested in using community media as a tool to explore issues, events and stories important to the volunteers.
If you are interested in accessing training as volunteer with Near FM, with a specific aim to being part of a team that produces content for the radio relating to international development, please contact: Shannette Budhai at [email protected] or 01-478-3490.
