Last Tuesday saw the launch of the Dympna Meaney Women’s Leadership Development Fund in the Mansion House, Dublin.

Dympna’s family, friends, and former colleagues came together to recall Dympna’s life and to celebrate the launch of a fund that aims to connect women leaders from Latin America, Africa and Asia with skills building opportunities to strengthen their contribution to global human rights.

Senator Ivana Bacik addressed the launch, highlighting the importance of the Fund in developing this support for women leaders working in the Global South while Jane Farren, Dympna’s sister, shared fond memories of Dympna with the crowd.

Mark Cumming, head of Comhlámh said:

It was great to see the various generations of Comhlámh come together to celebrate Dympna’s life as a sister, an aunt, friend, colleague and truly committed activist. We think the Fund is an excellent imitative and look forward to seeing it grow from strength to strength.
